In Karaköy the days move to the tempo of the waterfront, and we built our kitchen to match it. Pasta is cooked at the counter after you order, plated and brought straight to you.

The dough is rolled out every morning in the kitchen on Kölemen Street. Whether you drop in for a quick plate at lunch or linger at the table into the evening, you eat from the same counter.

The Place

A shop on the corner of Kölemen Street, opening onto the cobblestones from two sides at once. On the ground floor the counter faces the street: the wheel of parmesan, the bottles of olive oil and the pasta rolled that day are all in plain view — you watch what you eat as it cooks.

The marble tables on the pavement look out on the everyday flow of the historic peninsula; upstairs there is a terrace surrounded by plants. When the warm lights come on in the evening the street slows down and the tables are given over to long conversations.

The menu is on the illuminated board at the corner: pasta, stone-oven pizza, lasagna and desserts. You can decide on the street and step inside, or grab a plate to go and carry on your way.
